R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, School nutrition and cafeteria staff serve 46
million meals annually across the nation, and School Lunch Hero Day
on May 1, 2015, is an opportunity for students to show their
gratitude to these hardworking professionals; and
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the School Nutrition Association and
Random House Children's Books, this nationwide event was created by
Jarrett J. Krosoczka, the author and illustrator of the Lunch Lady
series of graphic novels for children, in which a school lunch
worker and her sidekick solve crimes; during this year's
celebration, students of the Houston Independent School District
will be visited by Mr. Krosoczka, who will be stopping by MacGregor
and Scroggins Elementary Schools to take part in the festivities;
and
WHEREAS, School Lunch Hero Day promotes reading, encourages
students to follow a healthy lifestyle, and extends appreciation to
the men and women responsible for feeding our children each school
day, and it is indeed a pleasure to join in celebrating this
memorable initiative; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize May 1, 2015, as School Lunch Hero Day.
