| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 75th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly |

| 6 | 7 | | cause for celebration, and Michael Donald Neely of Houston is |

| 7 | 8 | | reaching that impressive milestone on May 3, 2015; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1940 to George Neely and Cassie Lee |

| 9 | 10 | | Thomas-Neely, Michael Neely graduated from Phillis Wheatley High |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | School in 1959; he served for four years with the United States |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Marine Corps Reserve and went on to study psychology at Texas |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Southern University; in 1963 and 1964, he was a Peace Corps |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | volunteer in New York; he subsequently joined the Uncle Ben's |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Inc.-Mars Corporation and worked there for 25 years, retiring in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | 1991 as a plant superintendent; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Mr. Neely has been active as a |

| 17 | 18 | | community leader, serving as a precinct judge in northeast Houston |

| 18 | 19 | | and as a member of the Harris County Democratic Ballot Board and the |

| 19 | 20 | | Harris County Democratic Executive Committee; in addition, he was |

| 20 | 21 | | the class president of the Houston Police Department Citizens' |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Police Academy and first vice president of the Houston Citizens' |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Police Academy Alumni Association; he is also a 33rd degree Mason; |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Neely married his high school sweetheart, Betty |

| 25 | 26 | | Finner, in 1964, and they have shared their lives together for half |

| 26 | 27 | | a century; he is the proud father of two children, Cedric Lee Neely |

| 27 | 28 | | and Michelle Denise Neely, and the doting grandfather of Neely |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family and admiring friends, |

| 30 | 31 | | Michael Neely has long been a source of wisdom and inspiration to |
