| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Joe Livingston, a retired educator at Del Mar |

| 6 | 7 | | College in Corpus Christi, has been named professor emeritus by the |

| 7 | 8 | | college's board of regents; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Emeritus status is conferred on select former |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | faculty members and administrators in recognition of their |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | significant contributions to the educational community; many of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | these distinguished individuals continue to serve the university |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | during their retirement; and |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Professor emeritus of occupational education, Joe |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Livingston joined the faculty of Del Mar College in 1966, and over |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | the course of his exemplary 48-year tenure, he has served the school |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | as a teacher, program coordinator, department chair, and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | administrator; from 1991 until his retirement, he directed the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Department of Industrial Education and the Department of Technology |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Education, supervising 18 different programs; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Livingston oversaw the conversion of the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | college's occupational health and safety, emergency medical |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | services, and fire science classes from noncredit to credit |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | certificate and degree programs, and he also led the development of |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | programs in process technology, electroplating, airframe |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | technology, and power plant technology, among others; he generously |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | shared his technical expertise to help other colleges develop a |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | technical training curriculum, and his efforts to establish a |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | General Educational Development Program and a networked computer |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | lab at the DMC West Campus greatly benefited the college's students |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | and played a positive role in the region's economic expansion; and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Through his myriad endeavors in behalf of Del Mar |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | College, Joe Livingston has contributed immeasurably to advancing |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | the mission of that institution, and he is indeed deserving of this |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Joe Livingston on his designation |

| 37 | 38 | | as professor emeritus at Del Mar College and extend to him sincere |

| 38 | 39 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
