| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, La Voz Kids, which airs on Telemundo, is a junior |

| 10 | 11 | | version of the American singing competition The Voice in which |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | contestants vie for a five-year recording contract and a $50,000 |

| 12 | 13 | | cash prize supporting their education; invited to participate in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the program in January 2015, Shanty impressed all three judges on |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the panel and ultimately chose Mexican singer and actor Pedro |

| 15 | 16 | | Fernández as her vocal coach; the final round begins on May 2 and |

| 16 | 17 | | will consist of 18 young contestants; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in Penitas, Shanty is the daughter |

| 18 | 19 | | of Osmin and Maria Zumaya and the sister of two brothers, Samir and |

| 20 | 21 | | nurturing her gifts since she began singing when she was just four |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
