| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bert Saldaña has distinguished himself as a gifted |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Passionate about painting throughout his adult |

| 9 | 10 | | life, Mr. Saldaña graduated with a bachelor's degree in fine art |

| 10 | 11 | | from The University of Texas at El Paso; he subsequently studied at |

| 11 | 12 | | the Smithsonian Institution and worked as a muralist at the El Paso |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Museum of Art for four years; a senior museum exhibit designer and |

| 13 | 14 | | artist for the United States Army, he served as chief of the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | exhibits branch at Fort Bliss and designed museums around the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | country for the army and the National Park Service; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Today, this award-winning artist displays his oil |

| 17 | 18 | | paintings and prints at the Bert Saldaña Art Gallery in San |

| 18 | 19 | | Elizario, and his works have also been exhibited at the Texas State |

| 19 | 20 | | Capitol and the El Paso County Courthouse; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Bert Saldaña's talent and enthusiasm for his craft |

| 21 | 22 | | are reflected in the impressive body of work that he has created |

| 22 | 23 | | over the course of his career, and his dedicated efforts have |

| 23 | 24 | | furthered the Lone Star State's reputation for excellence in the |

| 24 | 25 | | arts; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby honor Bert Saldaña for his artistic achievements |
