| 10 | 11 | | to engage them in the study of engineering; to demonstrate their |

| 11 | 12 | | abilities, students participated in a variety of team and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | individual events as part of the SkillsUSA district and state |
|---|

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The CTE welding team composed of Josh Bell, Josh |

| 15 | 16 | | Elpers, Chad Henry, Brennan LaHue, Dustin Moore, Bradley Newman, |

| 16 | 17 | | Pac Nickson, Tray Smelley, and Lathon Stewart built a barbecue pit |

| 17 | 18 | | and trailer that earned a superior rating at the district event, and |

| 18 | 19 | | the squad later scored a perfect 100 at state; Mr. Elpers, |

| 19 | 20 | | Mr. Henry, Mr. LaHue, Mr. Nickson, Mr. Smelley, and Mr. Stewart |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The three-welder fabrication team of Dalton |

| 24 | 25 | | while the team of Mr. Moore, Mr. Bell, and Mr. Smelley went on to |

| 25 | 26 | | compete at state; Mr. LaHue and Mr. Stewart created a plasma cutout |

| 26 | 27 | | of a battle tank and advanced to state, where they achieved a |

| 27 | 28 | | perfect score and a superior rating; and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, In individual contests at the district level, |

| 29 | 30 | | Bethany Brooks was the blue ribbon winner for her welding art |

| 30 | 31 | | sculpture of a western lamp, Mr. Ketchens earned first place in the |

| 31 | 32 | | job application process competition, and Mr. Henry won second place |

| 32 | 33 | | in welding applications; and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Through their involvement in the district and state |

| 34 | 35 | | welding competitions, these Lumberton High School students have |

| 35 | 36 | | shown great initiative and talent, and they may indeed reflect with |

| 36 | 37 | | pride on their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Lumberton High School welding |

| 39 | 40 | | students on their success in district and state competitions and |

| 40 | 41 | | extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
