| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Edgar Manuel Torres Ovando has ably served the |

| 7 | 7 | | people of Texas as a senior education fellow in the office of State |

| 8 | 8 | | Representative Mary González during the 84th Legislative Session; |

| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Mr. Torres Ovando has |

| 11 | 11 | | provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | tasks; his primary focus has been on education matters, and he has |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | learned more about the legislative process and issues confronting |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | schools in the Lone Star State while gaining valuable experience in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the field of public service; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Born in Kingsville, Mr. Torres Ovando is the son of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Dr. Roberto L. Torres and Maria T. Ovando; he is studying education |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | policy and planning as a student in the doctoral program in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | education administration at The University of Texas at Austin; a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | former teacher, instructional coach, and school administrator, he |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | was named Alice Independent School District Secondary Teacher of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Year for 2010-2011; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This noteworthy Texan has performed his duties as a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | senior education fellow with skill and dedication, and he is indeed |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commend Edgar Manuel Torres Ovando for his |

| 29 | 29 | | service as a senior education fellow in the office of State |

| 30 | 30 | | Representative Mary González and extend to him sincere best wishes |
