| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Patrick R. Gordon of El Paso has provided |

| 6 | 7 | | outstanding service to the State of Texas during his tenure on the |

| 7 | 8 | | Rio Grande Compact Commission, and he is truly deserving of special |

| 8 | 9 | | recognition; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The 1938 Rio Grande Compact between Texas, Colorado, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | and New Mexico apportions water to the three states from the Rio |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Grande and its tributaries, and it is the job of the Texas member of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | the commission to ensure that the Lone Star State receives its fair |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | share of quality water; Mr. Gordon was first appointed to the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | commission by Governor Rick Perry in 2006, and he won reappointment |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | in 2008 and 2013; his current term expires in 2019; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Pat Gordon |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | earned his law degree and a master's degree in business |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | administration from Texas Tech University, and he is a partner and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | president of Gordon Davis Johnson and Shane PC; in addition, he is a |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | CPA and licensed real estate broker, and he is certified in tax law |

| 21 | 22 | | by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon also contributes to his community as a |

| 23 | 24 | | member of the El Paso Juarez chapter of the Young Presidents' |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Organization, as president of the El Paso Estate Planning Council, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | and as a board member of the Texas Department of Housing and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Community Affairs; moreover, he is a merit badge counselor and a |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | board member of the Yucca Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, By giving freely of his time, energy, and expertise |

| 29 | 30 | | to help ensure our state's access to one of its most precious |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | resources, Pat Gordon is contributing greatly to the well-being and |

| 31 | 32 | | prosperity of all Texans; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby commend Patrick R. Gordon for his service on the |

| 34 | 35 | | Rio Grande Compact Commission and extend to him sincere best wishes |
