 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Richard P. Sanchez, former chief of staff for State
 Representative Sergio Muñoz Jr., is beginning a new position at The
 University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and it is indeed appropriate
 to take this opportunity to commend him for his notable
 contributions to the legislative community and the people of Texas;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Sanchez began his distinguished career in
 government as a revenue estimator for the Texas comptroller's
 office; he then served as a policy specialist for the Senate
 Research Center and chief of staff for State Representative Ismael
 "Kino" Flores, and he was chief of staff for Representative Muñoz
 from January 2011 to December 2014; moreover, he has served in the
 Texas State Guard since 2000; and
 WHEREAS, This highly respected Capitol staffer is a founding
 member of the board of Tejano Monument Incorporated, the nonprofit
 that organized recognition of our state's Tejano heritage through
 the placement of the splendid monument on the Capitol grounds, and
 he has served as secretary-treasurer of the group; and
 WHEREAS, A former president of the Hidalgo/Starr Texas Exes
 Association, he holds a bachelor's degree in economics from The
 University of Texas at Austin and has completed the certified
 public manager program in public administration; and
 WHEREAS, Richard Sanchez has greatly benefited his fellow
 citizens through his commendable dedication to public service, and
 as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life, he may
 reflect with pride on his accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Richard P. Sanchez for his exemplary
 service to the state and extend to him sincere best wishes for
 continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Sanchez as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
