45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Mercedes Gonzalez has ably served the State of Texas
67 as a policy intern in the office of State Representative James White
78 during the 84th Legislative Session; and
89 WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Gonzalez has provided
910 vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks;
1011 in addition to learning more about the legislative process and the
1112 issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained
1213 valuable experience in the field of public service; and
1314 WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Ms. Gonzalez earned her
1415 bachelor's degree in sociology and Latina/o studies from the
1516 University of Illinois; she is due to earn her master's degree from
1617 the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at
1718 Austin in May 2015, and she plans to pursue a career in government;
1819 in her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and petting any
1920 puppy in sight; and
2021 WHEREAS, This outstanding young woman has performed her
2122 duties as a policy intern with skill and dedication, and she is
2223 indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now,
2324 therefore, be it
2425 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2526 Legislature hereby commend Mercedes Gonzalez for her service as a
2627 policy intern in the office of State Representative James White and
2728 extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her
2829 endeavors; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for Ms. Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the
3132 Texas House of Representatives.
