5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |

6 | 7 | | of Oleta Horton Collier of Goldthwaite, who passed away on March 3, |

7 | 8 | | 2015, at the age of 95; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born on September 24, 1919, in the Caradan community |

9 | 10 | | in Mills County, the former Oleta Horton was the daughter of John |
---|
10 | 11 | | Raymond and Bertie Huckabee Horton; a lifelong resident of Mills |
---|
11 | 12 | | County, she graduated from Goldthwaite High School and belonged to |
---|
12 | 13 | | the First United Methodist Church; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Following the death of her first husband, Lester |
---|
15 | 16 | | Glynn Collier, with whom she exchanged wedding vows on October 16, |
---|
16 | 17 | | 1954, at a ceremony in Goldthwaite; while devoting herself to her |
---|
17 | 18 | | home and family, she also worked for a time as a clerk at |

18 | 19 | | Yarborough's; and |
---|
19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Collier was active in the PTA, Band Boosters, |
---|
20 | 21 | | and many sports fund-raising events when her children, Tommy and |
---|
21 | 22 | | Glenda, were younger; later in life, she nurtured a passion for |
---|
22 | 23 | | travel and enjoyed participating in the Local Bank Travel Club, and |
---|
23 | 24 | | she met weekly with a group of her friends to play Skip-Bo, Canasta, |

24 | 25 | | and 42; she delighted in preparing delicious meals and desserts for |
---|
25 | 26 | | her loved ones, and she was a "second mother" to many of the guests |

26 | 27 | | she welcomed at her table; and |
---|
27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Oleta Collier |

28 | 29 | | will remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth and |

29 | 30 | | kindness, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their |

30 | 31 | | hearts; now, therefore, be it |

31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
