R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Teen and Police Service Academy of El Paso is
making a positive difference in the lives of young West Texans; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to reducing the social distance between
at-risk youth and law enforcement personnel, TAPS Academy promotes
interaction and discussion between teenagers and police mentors;
and
WHEREAS, Student participants enhance their decision-making
skills and earn course credit during the 11-week program, which
addresses a variety of important topics, including abuse, bullying,
truancy, and conflict resolution; and
WHEREAS, By encouraging understanding between young people
and law enforcement professionals, the TAPS Academy of El Paso is
helping to shape a brighter future for area residents, and it is
indeed deserving of recognition for its efforts; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby commend the Teen and Police Service Academy of
El Paso for its contributions to the community and extend to all
involved with the organization sincere best wishes for the future;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for TAPS Academy of El Paso as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
