45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Teen and Police Service Academy of El Paso is
67 making a positive difference in the lives of young West Texans; and
78 WHEREAS, Dedicated to reducing the social distance between
89 at-risk youth and law enforcement personnel, TAPS Academy promotes
910 interaction and discussion between teenagers and police mentors;
1011 and
1112 WHEREAS, Student participants enhance their decision-making
1213 skills and earn course credit during the 11-week program, which
1314 addresses a variety of important topics, including abuse, bullying,
1415 truancy, and conflict resolution; and
1516 WHEREAS, By encouraging understanding between young people
1617 and law enforcement professionals, the TAPS Academy of El Paso is
1718 helping to shape a brighter future for area residents, and it is
1819 indeed deserving of recognition for its efforts; now, therefore, be
1920 it
2021 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2122 Legislature hereby commend the Teen and Police Service Academy of
2223 El Paso for its contributions to the community and extend to all
2324 involved with the organization sincere best wishes for the future;
2425 and, be it further
2526 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2627 prepared for TAPS Academy of El Paso as an expression of high regard
2728 by the Texas House of Representatives.
