R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The baseball team from Calallen High School in
Corpus Christi captured the District 30-5A championship with a
victory over Flour Bluff High School on April 21, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Wildcats received a dominant performance from
pitcher Kyle Hill, who tossed a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts,
and benefited from a number of timely hits to win the game by a score
of 4-0; and
WHEREAS, Led by head coach Steve Chapman, Calallen finished
the regular season with an outstanding overall record of 21 wins to
just 2 defeats, including a 14-1 mark in district play; as district
champions, the Wildcats will go on to compete for the state title in
the University Interscholastic League playoffs in May; and
WHEREAS, The hard work and determination of these talented
student-athletes have been justly rewarded with a district crown,
and they may indeed reflect with pride on their notable
accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Calallen High School baseball
team on winning the District 30-5A championship and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued success in the postseason; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
