 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Nishiki Maredia has ably served her fellow Texans as
 an aide in the office of State Representative Gene Wu during the
 84th Legislative Session; and
 WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Maredia has provided
 vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks;
 in addition to learning more about the legislative process and the
 issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained
 valuable experience in the field of public service; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Maredia is a student at The University of Texas
 at Austin, where she has acquired leadership experience through her
 involvement in a number of notable groups; she has served as
 secretary, vice president, and president of the History Club, as
 coxswain for the women's and men's rowing teams, and as head
 representative for the Westlake Chapter of the Junior Statesmen of
 America; moreover, she was a cofounder of Your Fan Club, which works
 to promote gender equality in sports teams and other organizations;
 and
 WHEREAS, In addition to her campus activities, Ms. Maredia
 has contributed more than 1,500 hours of community service with
 such organizations as the Red Cross, the Capital Area Food Bank of
 Texas, Keep Austin Beautiful, and the Austin Learning Center, where
 she has worked as a tutor and mentor; she has also engaged in
 grassroots politics as a finance intern with Annie's List and as a
 participant in the Wendy Davis Fellowship program; and
 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her
 duties as a legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is
 indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby commend Nishiki Maredia for her service as a
 legislative aide in the office of State Representative Gene Wu and
 extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her
 endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Maredia as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
