| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The untimely passing of James Moulton Eastland of |

| 6 | 7 | | Hunt on March 16, 2015, at the age of 34, has brought a tremendous |

| 7 | 8 | | loss to the family and friends of this beloved Texan; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born on February 16, 1981, to Dick and Tweety |

| 9 | 10 | | Eastland, James Eastland graduated from Tivy High School in |

| 10 | 11 | | Kerrville, where he played on the football and soccer teams; he |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | received a degree in mechanical engineering from The University of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Texas at Austin, and while there, he met his future wife, Lindsay; a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | caring husband and father, he cherished his family above all else, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and he took great pride in his two daughters, Caroline and Anna; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In 2004, Mr. Eastland went to work for Camp Mystic, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | a 725-acre Christian summer camp for girls that has been in the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Eastland family since 1939; for a decade, he served the operation as |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | vice president, and his many responsibilities included managing the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | camp's website, promoting the facility, assisting with finances, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and teaching a fishing class for the campers; he endeared himself to |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | his young charges and to the counselors in his employ through his |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | concern for their well-being, and he believed strongly in the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | camp's mission of nurturing the personal and spiritual growth of |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | young women; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Eastland was a member of the congregation at |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | First United Methodist Church, and he was also active in the |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce, where he endeavored to support |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | the economic prosperity of the city; furthermore, he was involved |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | with the Eagle's Nest mentoring program at Hunt Elementary School, |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | and in recognition of his myriad efforts to assist students, the |

| 31 | 32 | | James Eastland Mentoring Scholarship has been established in his |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | memory by the Hunt Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Although no words can diminish the pain caused by a |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | life cut short, the friends and loved ones of James Eastland are |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | richer for having known him, and they will forever find joy in their |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | memories of time spent in his company; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James Moulton |
