No. 2508 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Cassie Gianni, a senior at the University of Houston, has distinguished herself by earning a Rangel Graduate Fellowship; and WHEREAS, Named for United States Congressman Charles Rangel, the fellowship is awarded annually to 30 students from across the country to provide support for graduate studies and professional development, as well as an introduction to the U.S. Foreign Service; Ms. Gianni is the first student from the University of Houston to receive this prestigious honor; and WHEREAS, Ms. Gianni was born and raised in Houston, and she attended Bellaire High School before beginning her studies in economics at UH; an Honors College student and a Tier One Scholar, she has worked toward her career goal of becoming a diplomat by learning Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, and she has contributed her time and talents to international volunteer efforts; following her graduation in May, she plans to attend the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, A truly outstanding young Texan, Cassie Gianni is well prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Cassie Gianni on becoming the first Rangel Graduate Fellow from the University of Houston and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Gianni as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
