| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Cassie Gianni, a senior at the University of |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Named for United States Congressman Charles Rangel, |

| 9 | 10 | | the fellowship is awarded annually to 30 students from across the |

| 10 | 11 | | country to provide support for graduate studies and professional |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | development, as well as an introduction to the U.S. Foreign |

| 12 | 13 | | Service; Ms. Gianni is the first student from the University of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Houston to receive this prestigious honor; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Gianni was born and raised in Houston, and she |

| 15 | 16 | | attended Bellaire High School before beginning her studies in |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | economics at UH; an Honors College student and a Tier One Scholar, |

| 17 | 18 | | she has worked toward her career goal of becoming a diplomat by |

| 18 | 19 | | learning Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, and she has contributed her |

| 19 | 20 | | time and talents to international volunteer efforts; following her |

| 20 | 21 | | graduation in May, she plans to attend the Lyndon B. Johnson School |

| 21 | 22 | | of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A truly outstanding young Texan, Cassie Gianni is |

| 23 | 24 | | well prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie |

| 24 | 25 | | ahead, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her |
