| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Gonzalo Partida of the United States Navy has been |

| 6 | 7 | | named commander of Patrol Squadron 9, and this achievement presents |

| 7 | 8 | | a fitting opportunity to recognize him for his outstanding service |

| 8 | 9 | | to his country; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Partida enlisted in the navy in 1990, and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | following his training as an electrician's mate, he earned a |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | scholarship from the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps; he was |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | commissioned after graduating with a bachelor's degree in chemistry |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | from the University of Florida in December 1997; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Originally stationed with a naval navigation |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | training unit at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Mr. Partida received his first operational assignment with Patrol |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Squadron 9 at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in 1999; while a member of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the unit, nicknamed the "Golden Eagles," he served as patrol plane |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | instructor tactical coordinator and as mission commander and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | completed deployments around the globe; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Commander Partida was transferred to Patrol |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Squadron 30 in 2003, and he later served for three years aboard the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | USS Ronald Reagan, during which time the ship completed its maiden |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | deployment to the Arabian Gulf in support of the Global War on |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Terror; he went on to join Patrol Squadron 1 before being assigned |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | in 2011 to the Joint Staff, Nuclear Command and Control |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Directorate, which he served as assistant deputy director for |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | operations; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding record, Commander |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Partida has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V" device; and |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Commander Partida is |

| 33 | 34 | | blessed with the love and support of his wife, the former Laura |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | Sanchez, and he takes tremendous pride in their three children, |

| 35 | 36 | | Noah, Cora, and Cruz; and |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, This distinguished officer has contributed |

| 37 | 38 | | significantly to the units with which he has served, and his |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | commitment to duty, honor, and this country have reflected the |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | highest ideals of the United States armed forces; now, therefore, |

| 41 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 42 | 43 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Gonzalo Partida on being named |
