5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Rountree is retiring as city manager of |

6 | 7 | | Brownwood on June 23, 2015, drawing to a close an exemplary career |

7 | 8 | | in municipal government that has spanned nearly four and a half |
---|
8 | 9 | | decades; and |
---|
9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A native of Goldthwaite and a member of the |
---|
10 | 11 | | Goldthwaite High School Class of 1967, Mr. Rountree earned his |
---|
11 | 12 | | bachelor's degree in recreation and park administration from Texas |
---|
12 | 13 | | Tech University in 1971; soon thereafter, he began a distinguished |
---|
13 | 14 | | 30-year career in public service in Baytown, first as parks and |
---|
14 | 15 | | recreation director and later as assistant city manager and city |
---|
15 | 16 | | manager; returning to Goldthwaite, he went on to serve as its city |
---|
16 | 17 | | manager for six years; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In 2007, Mr. Rountree became the city manager of |
---|
18 | 19 | | Brownwood, and his leadership in that office has been instrumental |
---|
19 | 20 | | in the community's growth and progress; during his tenure, he has |
---|
20 | 21 | | played a key role in the completion of numerous civic projects, |
---|
21 | 22 | | including the renovation of Fisk Street, improvements to the |
---|
22 | 23 | | airport, and the construction of the Bert V. Massey II Sports |
---|
23 | 24 | | Complex, the Central Fire Station, the Corinne T. Smith Animal |
---|
24 | 25 | | Center, and an aquatics facility; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Retirement will undoubtedly afford Mr. Rountree the |
---|
26 | 27 | | opportunity to spend more time with his beloved family, including |
---|
27 | 28 | | his wife, Jana Petty Rountree, his children, Cory and Mika, and his |
---|
28 | 29 | | three grandsons, as well as to work with the cattle he keeps in |
---|
29 | 30 | | Goldthwaite and to handle home improvement projects; and |
---|
30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, With his skill, professionalism, and commitment to |
---|
31 | 32 | | excellence, Bobby Rountree has helped make Brownwood an even better |
---|
32 | 33 | | place in which to live, and he may reflect with satisfaction on all |
---|
33 | 34 | | that he has achieved as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of |
---|
34 | 35 | | his life; now, therefore, be it |

35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bobby Rountree on his retirement as |

37 | 38 | | city manager of Brownwood and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
