H.R. No. 2532
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lauren Penney of Jasper has demonstrated excellence
in the sport of gymnastics, and she will soon be competing at the
Junior Olympics being held in Fort Worth in July 2015; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Carlton and Beth
Penney, Lauren Penney qualified for the prestigious event through
her impressive performance at the 2015 USA Gymnastics Trampoline
and Tumbling state championships in Lafayette, Louisiana; there,
she captured titles in the power tumbling and the double
mini-trampoline events and was awarded the silver medal for
trampoline; and
WHEREAS, Training and competing in gymnastics since the age
of five, Lauren has greatly benefited from the guidance of her
coaches, Neil and Ramonda Vinsant and Gabbi Smith; in addition, she
is a straight-A student at Parnell Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has shown the
determination and perseverance that are the hallmarks of successful
athletes at every level of competition, and she is a source of pride
for her family, her friends, and her coaches; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Lauren Penney on her wins at the
2015 USA Gymnastics Trampoline and Tumbling state championships and
on qualifying for the Junior Olympics and extend to her sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Lauren as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
