H.R. No. 2539
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The members of the Friendswood Junior High School
Color Guard distinguished themselves by winning the Cadet East
Championship of the Texas Color Guard Circuit on March 28, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Tallying a final score of 72.67, the Friendswood
Color Guard triumphed over five other competing junior high school
squads to capture the cadet championship title; they also outscored
22 high school teams in the upper classifications, and they are the
top scoring team in the cadet division for the past two years; and
WHEREAS, The largest team in Friendswood Junior High Color
Guard history includes Claire Clauson, Sophie Clement, Julia Curry,
Pir'Chaih Dickerson, Abigaile Faircloth, Jada Foster, Jalila
Foster, Ashley Garcia, Grace Gilbert, Madison Hartung, Amya Henry,
Madeline Hill, Julia Kelly, Jessica Kuipers, Ashton Mabe, Bailey
McDaniel, Megen Mecham, Madelynn Morse, Jordan Payne, Regan Payne,
Grace Sebesta, Karsen Spencer, Zoe Stilwell, Stephanie Troutt,
Emily Warren, Destinee Woodburn, and Rainey Worrell; the team is
ably guided by director Ron Barnett, assistant director Donna
Barnett, and high school volunteers Emilee Clyburn, Meghan Gilbert,
Holly McGowan, Melissa Puebla, and Alissa Williams; and
WHEREAS, With their fine showing at the TCGC East
Championship, the members of the Friendswood Junior High Color
Guard have proudly represented their school, and the dedication and
commitment to excellence the students have demonstrated is sure to
serve them well in the years ahead; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Friendswood Junior High School
Color Guard on winning the 2015 Cadet East Championship and extend
to all those associated with the team sincere best wishes for the
future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
