| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Houston Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction is |

| 7 | 8 | | Luncheon on May 17, 2015, and this occasion offers a welcome |

| 8 | 9 | | opportunity to honor this exemplary civic organization; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, For a half-century, the members of the Houston |

| 10 | 11 | | Chapter have devoted themselves to serving the community; through |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | their dedicated support of local and national initiatives, they |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | strive diligently to fulfill the TLOD mission of enhancing the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | quality of life for youth and adults; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The chapter's Top Teens of America program offers |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | young people opportunities for educational, moral, and cultural |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | enrichment, and its Status of Women project helps individuals to |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | manage their time and resources; in addition, the group places a |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | special emphasis on assisting senior citizens, enabling them to |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | continue leading engaged and fulfilling lives; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, By carrying out a range of beautification efforts, |

| 21 | 22 | | TLOD members help to heighten awareness of environmental concerns |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | and to improve area neighborhoods for the enjoyment of all; the |

| 23 | 24 | | chapter also forms partnerships with other groups, businesses, and |

| 24 | 25 | | governmental entities to make a positive difference in the city and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | beyond; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The Houston Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction has |

| 27 | 28 | | performed countless good works over the course of five decades, and |

| 28 | 29 | | its members have earned the lasting gratitude and admiration of |

| 29 | 30 | | their fellow residents; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Houston |
