| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Former La Joya Independent School District board |

| 6 | 7 | | member Arturo Gonzalez Jr. passed away on April 26, 2009, at the age |

| 7 | 8 | | of 56, but his legacy continues through the scholarship fund |

|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The son of Arturo Gonzalez Sr. and Baudilia |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Gonzalez, "Morgan" Gonzalez was born on September 29, 1952; he |

| 11 | 12 | | graduated from the La Joya Independent School District and remained |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | a proud Coyote fan, loyally wearing the red and white school colors; |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzalez was joined in matrimony to Rebecca |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Gonzalez, and they became the proud parents of four children, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Anita, Arturo, Angie, and Andie; after beginning his family, he |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | completed his education at South Texas Community College, majoring |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | in business management while working full-time; he was employed for |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | 33 years by Valley Coca-Cola, where he rose to become a supervisor |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and made many lasting friendships; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Fulfilling a longtime goal, Mr. Gonzalez won |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | election to the board of La Joya ISD in 2001, and he served with |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | great dedication; he was involved in numerous district events and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | strove to inspire youngsters to achieve academic goals; in his free |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | time, he enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting, playing golf, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | solving Sudoku puzzles, baking, crocheting, sewing, and making |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | wonderful presents for his beloved grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, A quiet man with a big heart and ready smile, Morgan |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Gonzalez was devoted to his family and his community, and he is |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | remembered with deep affection and admiration by all who were |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Arturo "Morgan" |

| 34 | 35 | | Gonzalez Jr. and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, |
