No. 255 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Marvin Rich of Houston is being honored by the Anti-Defamation League on February 2, 2015, the group's Texas Legislative Day at the State Capitol, in recognition of his exemplary, longtime service to the ADL; and WHEREAS, For more than five decades, Mr. Rich has devoted his time and efforts to advancing the ADL's mission of combating anti-Semitism and racism in all its forms; he fought tirelessly to help integrate the Houston Independent School District during the civil rights movement, and through the years, his advocacy for raising education standards has benefited countless students in Texas and beyond; and WHEREAS, A board member for the southwest regional office of the ADL since its inception, Mr. Rich has been named an honorary life member of the ADL National Commission and was chosen as a Centennial Champion during the organization's 100th anniversary celebration in 2013; moreover, this respected civic leader was appointed by Governor Ann Richards to serve on the Texas State Library and Archives Commission; and WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Rich is blessed with the love and support of his wife, Shirley Rich; and WHEREAS, Through his dedication to building a more just and inclusive society, Marvin Rich has set an inspiring example for his fellow citizens, and it is a privilege to join in honoring him on this special occasion; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby commend Marvin Rich for his immeasurable contributions in behalf of the Anti-Defamation League and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Rich as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
