| 8 | 9 | | exemplary, longtime service to the ADL; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, For more than five decades, Mr. Rich has devoted his |

| 10 | 11 | | time and efforts to advancing the ADL's mission of combating |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | anti-Semitism and racism in all its forms; he fought tirelessly to |

| 12 | 13 | | help integrate the Houston Independent School District during the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | civil rights movement, and through the years, his advocacy for |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | raising education standards has benefited countless students in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Texas and beyond; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A board member for the southwest regional office of |

| 17 | 18 | | the ADL since its inception, Mr. Rich has been named an honorary |

| 18 | 19 | | life member of the ADL National Commission and was chosen as a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Centennial Champion during the organization's 100th anniversary |

| 20 | 21 | | celebration in 2013; moreover, this respected civic leader was |

| 21 | 22 | | appointed by Governor Ann Richards to serve on the Texas State |

| 22 | 23 | | Library and Archives Commission; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Rich is blessed with |

| 24 | 25 | | the love and support of his wife, Shirley Rich; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedication to building a more just and |

| 26 | 27 | | inclusive society, Marvin Rich has set an inspiring example for his |

| 27 | 28 | | fellow citizens, and it is a privilege to join in honoring him on |
