| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The untimely death of Daryl Ray Matthews of |

| 6 | 7 | | Pflugerville on April 26, 2015, at the age of 47, has brought an |

| 7 | 8 | | immeasurable loss to all who were privileged to share in the life of |

| 8 | 9 | | this beloved Texan; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A native of Tyler, Daryl Matthews was born on April |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | 23, 1968, to Forest and Jesserene Matthews, and he grew up with the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | companionship of two sisters, Sheri and Lura, and a brother, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Forest; he later found a devoted partner in his wife, Phyllis |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Matthews, and their relationship was a source of much happiness and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | fulfillment to him; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Outgoing and generous, Mr. Matthews could be |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | counted on to lend a hand whenever a friend needed him; his loved |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | ones always had a welcome place in his home and at his table, and he |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | enjoyed preparing his famous layered cakes for weddings, parties, |

| 19 | 20 | | and other special occasions; known for his skilled craftsmanship as |

| 20 | 21 | | well, he often worked alongside his father on do-it-yourself |

| 21 | 22 | | projects, and he was pleased to have donated his time and labor to |

| 22 | 23 | | build a new deck for his church; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Although his days were far too few, Daryl Matthews |

| 24 | 25 | | leaves behind a host of dear friends and family who are richer for |

| 25 | 26 | | having known him, and they will forever find inspiration in their |

| 26 | 27 | | memories of his warmth and kindness; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Daryl Ray Matthews and |
