H.R. No. 2655 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Korean War-era veteran Olis Eaton of Waco has been featured in the Waco Tribune-Herald as one of its Voices of Valor; and WHEREAS, Mr. Eaton was one of 11 brothers, including two sets of twins, who served in the U.S. military; as members of the army, the navy, the marines, and the army air forces, most of the older brothers saw combat in World War II and Korea, and one was a German prisoner of war; and WHEREAS, Olis and Otis Eaton, the youngest twins, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1953, and the two brothers served together at the same military hospital in Misawa, Japan; Olis worked as an ambulance driver and his brother worked as a cook; and WHEREAS, After the war, Olis Eaton and his brother returned home, and Mr. Eaton went on to a career as a McLennan County sheriff's deputy, working at the county jail until he retired at the age of 60; he is the last surviving Eaton brother; and WHEREAS, Through his patriotism and great dedication, Olis Eaton fulfilled the highest ideals of the United States armed forces, and his fellow citizens owe him a lasting debt of gratitude; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature honor Olis Eaton for his exemplary service to his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force and congratulate him on his recognition as one of the Voices of Valor by the Waco Tribune-Herald; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Eaton as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
