5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Korean War-era veteran Olis Eaton of Waco has been |

6 | 7 | | featured in the Waco Tribune-Herald as one of its Voices of Valor; |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Eaton was one of 11 brothers, including two sets |

9 | 10 | | of twins, who served in the U.S. military; as members of the army, |
---|
10 | 11 | | the navy, the marines, and the army air forces, most of the older |
---|
11 | 12 | | brothers saw combat in World War II and Korea, and one was a German |
---|
12 | 13 | | prisoner of war; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Olis and Otis Eaton, the youngest twins, enlisted in |
---|
14 | 15 | | the U.S. Air Force in 1953, and the two brothers served together at |
---|
15 | 16 | | the same military hospital in Misawa, Japan; Olis worked as an |
---|
16 | 17 | | ambulance driver and his brother worked as a cook; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, After the war, Olis Eaton and his brother returned |
---|
18 | 19 | | home, and Mr. Eaton went on to a career as a McLennan County |
---|
19 | 20 | | sheriff's deputy, working at the county jail until he retired at the |
---|
20 | 21 | | age of 60; he is the last surviving Eaton brother; and |

21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Through his patriotism and great dedication, Olis |
---|
22 | 23 | | Eaton fulfilled the highest ideals of the United States armed |
---|
23 | 24 | | forces, and his fellow citizens owe him a lasting debt of gratitude; |

25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

26 | 27 | | Legislature honor Olis Eaton for his exemplary service to his |

27 | 28 | | country as a member of the U.S. Air Force and congratulate him on |

28 | 29 | | his recognition as one of the Voices of Valor by the Waco |
