| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |

| 6 | 7 | | cause for celebration, and Laura Bennett of Plano is marking this |

| 7 | 8 | | momentous milestone in her life on May 20, 2015, to the delight of |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | her many loved ones; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1915, Laura Bennett was raised with her two |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | brothers and two sisters, to whom she was devoted; she was employed |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | as a waitress, and later she and her husband became the owners of a |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | restaurant; although she worked long hours, she always made time |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | for her treasured family; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Bennett assisted her sisters and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | sisters-in-law with their households when their babies were born, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and as her 20 nieces and nephews grew up, she was ever ready to share |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | her time or provide them with funds; caring and generous, she gladly |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay, whether for a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | night or a year, and she ensured that nobody went hungry, even when |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | her resources were limited; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Today, "Aunt Laura" is the cherished matriarch of a |

| 22 | 23 | | large extended family, and the younger generations continue to look |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | to her as a tremendous source of wisdom, love, and inspiration as |

| 24 | 25 | | she joins the elite ranks of those who can reflect on 100 years of |

| 25 | 26 | | life well lived; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Laura Bennett on the occasion of |
