45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Cevekia DeGrate and Heather Helton of the Midway
67 Independent School District distinguished themselves with their
78 medal-winning performance at the 18th annual Technology Olympics
89 held in Waco on February 26, 2015; and
910 WHEREAS, This noteworthy event was cosponsored by Education
1011 Service Center Region 12 and the Division for Blind Services of the
1112 Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services; and
1213 WHEREAS, Competing in a variety of tasks, approximately 70
1314 students from across the state gained valuable experience using
1415 assistive technology, including electronic magnifiers, Braille
1516 note-taking devices, monocular telescopes, and laptops with
1617 special programs; the event also included a creative writing and
1718 art component to encourage self-expression; and
1819 WHEREAS, With their participation in this event, these
1920 outstanding young Texans learned new ways to overcome obstacles and
2021 acquired valuable skills, and they may take justifiable pride in
2122 the dedication and perseverance they have demonstrated; now,
2223 therefore, be it
2324 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2425 Legislature hereby congratulate Cevekia DeGrate and Heather Helton
2526 on winning medals at the 18th annual Technology Olympics and extend
2627 to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
2728 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
2829 for Ms. DeGrate and Ms. Helton as an expression of high regard by
2930 the Texas House of Representatives.
