| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Leadership Cedar Park program of the Cedar Park |

| 6 | 6 | | Chamber of Commerce is hosting its graduation ceremony on May 13, |

| 7 | 7 | | 2015; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, An annual nine-month program, Leadership Cedar Park |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | was established to identify and educate leaders and potential |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | leaders in the community; its day-long sessions provide in-depth |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | information about such topics as health care, social services, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | education, economic development, and quality of life; moreover, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | class members study the workings of government at the local, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | county, and state levels; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Participants receive both classroom instruction and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | hands-on leadership skills training; in addition to touring local |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | businesses, they attend an overnight retreat and visit the State |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Capitol to learn more about the legislative process; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Cedar Park increases civic engagement |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | while helping public-spirited residents to develop the qualities |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and abilities required to make a positive impact in their city; now, |

| 22 | 22 | | therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby recognize May 13, 2015, as Leadership Cedar Park |

| 25 | 25 | | Day and extend to all those associated with this noteworthy |

| 26 | 26 | | initiative sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
