56 WHEREAS, Mark Collette, a former reporter for the Corpus
67 Christi Caller-Times, was honored at the 12th annual First
78 Amendment Awards and Scholarship Dinner, presented by the Fort
89 Worth chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists on April
910 17, 2015; and
1011 WHEREAS, These unique accolades recognize exceptional
1112 journalism that defends the freedom of the press as guaranteed by
1213 the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, supports the public's
1314 right to know, and champions the powerless and disadvantaged; and
1415 WHEREAS, Competing in the category for newspapers with a
1516 circulation of less than 50,000, Mr. Collette won the general news
1617 award for his story headlined "Public Never Had a Say on Costco"
1718 published in the Caller-Times; he also won in the investigative
1819 category for his examination of state licensing of counselors; and
1920 WHEREAS, Through his skill, hard work, and dedication to the
2021 principles enshrined in the First Amendment, Mark Collette has
2122 earned well-deserved recognition from his professional peers for
2223 his journalistic excellence; now, therefore, be it
2324 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2425 Legislature hereby congratulate Mark Collette for winning two 2015
2526 First Amendment Awards from the Fort Worth Society of Professional
2627 Journalists and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
2728 success; and, be it further
2829 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2930 prepared for Mr. Collette as an expression of high regard by the
3031 Texas House of Representatives.
