| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Montgomery County United Way is commemorating |

| 6 | 7 | | the 60th anniversary of the organization's founding on May 13, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2015; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1955, MCUW actively encourages |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | individuals and companies to work together to give, advocate, and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | volunteer; the agency performs an important public service by |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | bringing together interested parties to seek solutions for local |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | issues, and its annual campaigns have raised tens of millions of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | dollars to address those needs; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Through its website, HelpOurCounty.org, MCUW |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | mobilizes thousands of volunteers who give generously of their |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | time, talents, and resources in behalf of nearly 400 Days of Caring |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | projects, annually providing more than 8,000 volunteer hours; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The United Way invests in area organizations that |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | offer education, financial, health, and basic services to |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Montgomery County residents; among its many achievements has been |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | the successful management of its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | program, which offers free tax assistance to |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | low-to-moderate-income and elderly clients, and of its Healthy |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Living Alliance, which addresses obesity; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, For six decades, the administrators, staff, and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | volunteers of the Montgomery County United Way have worked |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | diligently to benefit the greater good, and it is indeed a privilege |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | to join in recognizing the organization as it prepares to celebrate |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | this significant milestone in its rich history; now, therefore, be |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 60th anniversary of the |

| 33 | 34 | | Montgomery County United Way and recognize May 13, 2015, as |

| 34 | 35 | | Montgomery County United Way Volunteer Appreciation Day at the |
