| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A team of first responders from the Lake Rayburn |

| 6 | 7 | | Fire Department played an important role in the water rescue of a |

| 7 | 8 | | fellow Texan in Jasper County on April 27, 2015; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Heavy rains early that morning had caused Mill Creek |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | to overflow its banks, covering a county road with water; when a |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | local resident tried to drive through the water in her pickup truck, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the current forced her vehicle into the creek, where she was |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | trapped; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, At 11:30 a.m., a deputy of the Jasper County |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Sheriff's Department came across the partially submerged vehicle |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | and realized that someone was inside it, and he summoned |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | assistance; Sheriff Mitchel Newman and the team from the Lake |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Rayburn Fire Department arrived as a result of his call, and they |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | worked together to quickly and efficiently break the truck's |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | window, pull the driver out, and escort her through the water to |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | safety; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated members of the Lake Rayburn Fire |

| 22 | 23 | | Department who contributed to the rescue include Brett Holloway, |

| 30 | 31 | | potential tragedy was narrowly averted; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commend the members of the Lake Rayburn Fire |
