5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Colonel Curtis G. Raetz (USMCR, Ret.) closed out a |

6 | 7 | | notable 16-year tenure with Raytheon when he retired from the |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Casper, Wyoming, Curtis Gene Raetz was |
---|
9 | 10 | | raised in the Middle East and graduated from George C. Marshall |
---|
10 | 11 | | High School in Ankara, Turkey; he was subsequently awarded a full |
---|
11 | 12 | | Naval ROTC scholarship to attend The University of Texas at Austin, |
---|
12 | 13 | | where he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in |
---|
13 | 14 | | 1976, and he went on to receive a master's degree in systems |
---|
14 | 15 | | management from the University of Southern California and an MBA |
---|
15 | 16 | | from the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT-Dallas; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Through the NROTC program, Mr. Raetz was |
---|
17 | 18 | | commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, |
---|
18 | 19 | | where he served as a pilot for six years, logging 2,500 hours in the |
---|
19 | 20 | | cockpit; after completing his active duty in 1983, he entered the |
---|
20 | 21 | | Selected Marine Corps Reserve and continued serving on assignments |
---|
21 | 22 | | until December 2006; over the course of his exemplary military |
---|
22 | 23 | | career, he received numerous commendations, including the |
---|
23 | 24 | | Meritorious Service Medal and two Navy Achievement Medals, and he |
---|
24 | 25 | | attained the rank of colonel; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, This accomplished officer began his civilian |
---|
26 | 27 | | employment as a manufacturing engineer at Texas Instruments in |
---|
27 | 28 | | 1983, and in the ensuing years, he gained additional work |
---|
28 | 29 | | experience as a program manager at SBS Engineering, Paradigm |
---|
29 | 30 | | Simulation, and the Digital Pilot Corporation; and |
---|
30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, In June 1999, Colonel Raetz started working at |
---|
31 | 32 | | Raytheon, where he has distinguished himself in several management |
---|
32 | 33 | | positions in information technology and systems; throughout his |
---|
33 | 34 | | tenure, he has been recognized for his fine work with a number of |
---|
34 | 35 | | accolades, including the 2004 Intelligence, Information and |
---|
35 | 36 | | Services Employee of the Year Award, the 2002 IIS IT Outstanding |
---|
36 | 37 | | Leadership Award, the 2001 C3i IT Award of Excellence for |
---|
37 | 38 | | Outstanding Six Sigma Achievement, and the 2000 C3i IT Award of |
---|
38 | 39 | | Excellence for Best Program Management; moreover, his final |
---|
39 | 40 | | assignment with the company sent him to Abu Dhabi, United Arab |
---|
40 | 41 | | Emirates, for eight months; and |
---|
41 | 42 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Curtis Raetz enjoys the |
---|
42 | 43 | | love and support of his wife, the former Lou Ann Holmes, with whom |
---|
43 | 44 | | he has shared 37 rewarding years of marriage, and he takes |
---|
44 | 45 | | tremendous pride in the couple's three children, Stephen, Kate, and |
---|
45 | 46 | | Will; and |
---|
46 | 47 | | WHEREAS, Curtis Raetz's dedication, professionalism, and |
---|
47 | 48 | | commitment to excellence have earned him the respect and admiration |
---|
48 | 49 | | of his peers, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |

49 | 50 | | achievements as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; |

51 | 52 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

52 | 53 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Curtis G. Raetz on his retirement |
