45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Colonel Curtis G. Raetz (USMCR, Ret.) closed out a
67 notable 16-year tenure with Raytheon when he retired from the
78 company on April 3, 2015; and
89 WHEREAS, A native of Casper, Wyoming, Curtis Gene Raetz was
910 raised in the Middle East and graduated from George C. Marshall
1011 High School in Ankara, Turkey; he was subsequently awarded a full
1112 Naval ROTC scholarship to attend The University of Texas at Austin,
1213 where he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in
1314 1976, and he went on to receive a master's degree in systems
1415 management from the University of Southern California and an MBA
1516 from the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT-Dallas; and
1617 WHEREAS, Through the NROTC program, Mr. Raetz was
1718 commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps,
1819 where he served as a pilot for six years, logging 2,500 hours in the
1920 cockpit; after completing his active duty in 1983, he entered the
2021 Selected Marine Corps Reserve and continued serving on assignments
2122 until December 2006; over the course of his exemplary military
2223 career, he received numerous commendations, including the
2324 Meritorious Service Medal and two Navy Achievement Medals, and he
2425 attained the rank of colonel; and
2526 WHEREAS, This accomplished officer began his civilian
2627 employment as a manufacturing engineer at Texas Instruments in
2728 1983, and in the ensuing years, he gained additional work
2829 experience as a program manager at SBS Engineering, Paradigm
2930 Simulation, and the Digital Pilot Corporation; and
3031 WHEREAS, In June 1999, Colonel Raetz started working at
3132 Raytheon, where he has distinguished himself in several management
3233 positions in information technology and systems; throughout his
3334 tenure, he has been recognized for his fine work with a number of
3435 accolades, including the 2004 Intelligence, Information and
3536 Services Employee of the Year Award, the 2002 IIS IT Outstanding
3637 Leadership Award, the 2001 C3i IT Award of Excellence for
3738 Outstanding Six Sigma Achievement, and the 2000 C3i IT Award of
3839 Excellence for Best Program Management; moreover, his final
3940 assignment with the company sent him to Abu Dhabi, United Arab
4041 Emirates, for eight months; and
4142 WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Curtis Raetz enjoys the
4243 love and support of his wife, the former Lou Ann Holmes, with whom
4344 he has shared 37 rewarding years of marriage, and he takes
4445 tremendous pride in the couple's three children, Stephen, Kate, and
4546 Will; and
4647 WHEREAS, Curtis Raetz's dedication, professionalism, and
4748 commitment to excellence have earned him the respect and admiration
4849 of his peers, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his
4950 achievements as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life;
5051 now, therefore, be it
5152 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
5253 Legislature hereby congratulate Curtis G. Raetz on his retirement
5354 from Raytheon and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;
5455 and, be it further
5556 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5657 prepared for Colonel Raetz as an expression of high regard by the
5758 Texas House of Representatives.
