| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Mitchel Newman and Deputy Kevin Holloway of |

| 7 | 8 | | the water rescue of a fellow Texan on April 27, 2015; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Heavy rains early that morning had caused Mill Creek |

| 9 | 10 | | to overflow its banks, covering a county road with water; when a |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | local resident tried to drive through the water in her pickup truck, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the current forced her vehicle into the creek, where she was |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | trapped; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, At 11:25 a.m., Deputy Holloway came across the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | partially submerged vehicle and realized that someone was inside |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | it, and he summoned assistance; Sheriff Newman and a team from the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Lake Rayburn Fire Department arrived as a result of his call, and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | they worked together to quickly and efficiently break the truck's |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | window, pull the driver out, and escort her through the water to |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | safety; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Thanks to the swift and coordinated action of Deputy |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Holloway, Sheriff Newman, and the other first responders on the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | scene, a woman was rescued from desperate circumstances, and a |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | potential tragedy was narrowly averted; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 25 | 26 | | Legislature hereby commend Sheriff Mitchel Newman and Deputy Kevin |

| 26 | 27 | | Holloway for helping to rescue a citizen in need and extend to them |

| 27 | 28 | | sincere best wishes for continued success with their important |
