6 | 7 | | memories of William Charles Bouline, who died on April 14, 2015, at |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Bill Bouline was born in Manly, Iowa, on October 7, |
---|
9 | 10 | | 1933, to Charles and Gladys Bouline; he shared his life for 58 years |
---|
10 | 11 | | with his wife, Maria, and through the years, he became the father of |
---|
11 | 12 | | two children, Nanette and Erik, and the grandfather of seven |
---|
12 | 13 | | grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Bouline |
---|
14 | 15 | | spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, and for much of that time, he |
---|
15 | 16 | | served as a navigator on large cargo aircraft, flying all over the |
---|
16 | 17 | | world, including missions to the Congo in 1960, to Antarctica in |
---|
17 | 18 | | 1962, and to West Germany on many occasions; he also worked as an |
---|
18 | 19 | | air traffic controller, and during the Vietnam War, he earned a |
---|
19 | 20 | | Distinguished Flying Cross as a crew member on an AC-47 "Spooky" |
---|
20 | 21 | | gunship; he retired in 1974, with the rank of lieutenant colonel; |

22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, On returning to civilian life, Mr. Bouline embarked |

23 | 24 | | on a new career as a tennis pro; he and his wife, Ria, opened a |

24 | 25 | | business called the Tennis Corner and, over a 26-year career, he |

25 | 26 | | taught several generations of tennis players; he retired again in |

26 | 27 | | 2010 after serving for four years as the tennis coach of Saint |

27 | 28 | | Thomas More Academy in Dover, Delaware; and |
---|
28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bouline took great pleasure in spending time |

29 | 30 | | with his grandchildren, picking them up from school, attending |
---|
30 | 31 | | their sporting events and recitals, and sharing with them his love |

31 | 32 | | of photography and music; he and his wife also took each grandchild |
---|
32 | 33 | | on a personal tour of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland; and |

33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a proud veteran, Bill |

34 | 35 | | Bouline lived a rich and colorful life, and he leaves behind a |

35 | 36 | | legacy that will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved |
