45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
67 memories of William Charles Bouline, who died on April 14, 2015, at
78 the age of 81; and
89 WHEREAS, Bill Bouline was born in Manly, Iowa, on October 7,
910 1933, to Charles and Gladys Bouline; he shared his life for 58 years
1011 with his wife, Maria, and through the years, he became the father of
1112 two children, Nanette and Erik, and the grandfather of seven
1213 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and
1314 WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Bouline
1415 spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, and for much of that time, he
1516 served as a navigator on large cargo aircraft, flying all over the
1617 world, including missions to the Congo in 1960, to Antarctica in
1718 1962, and to West Germany on many occasions; he also worked as an
1819 air traffic controller, and during the Vietnam War, he earned a
1920 Distinguished Flying Cross as a crew member on an AC-47 "Spooky"
2021 gunship; he retired in 1974, with the rank of lieutenant colonel;
2122 and
2223 WHEREAS, On returning to civilian life, Mr. Bouline embarked
2324 on a new career as a tennis pro; he and his wife, Ria, opened a
2425 business called the Tennis Corner and, over a 26-year career, he
2526 taught several generations of tennis players; he retired again in
2627 2010 after serving for four years as the tennis coach of Saint
2728 Thomas More Academy in Dover, Delaware; and
2829 WHEREAS, Mr. Bouline took great pleasure in spending time
2930 with his grandchildren, picking them up from school, attending
3031 their sporting events and recitals, and sharing with them his love
3132 of photography and music; he and his wife also took each grandchild
3233 on a personal tour of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland; and
3334 WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a proud veteran, Bill
3435 Bouline lived a rich and colorful life, and he leaves behind a
3536 legacy that will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved
3637 him; now, therefore, be it
3738 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3839 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of William Charles
3940 Bouline and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
4041 his wife, Maria "Ria" Bouline; to his children, Nanette Kay Bouline
4142 Holmes and her partner, Michael Utley, and Erik Charles Bouline and
4243 his wife, Tracy; to his grandchildren, Christian Bouline, Bettina
4344 Holmes and her partner, Jason Sauders, Steffi Holmes and her
4445 husband, Timothy Plimpton, Danielle Bouline, Joshua Holmes,
4546 Michael R. Utley and his fiancée, Melanie Georgules, and Matthew
4647 Utley and his wife, Ginn; to his great-grandchildren, Ryan Utley,
4748 Sophia Georgules, and Barnes Utley; to his sisters, Pat Klinge and
4849 her husband, David, and Neva Bitker and Otti Roeckel; and to his
4950 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
5051 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5152 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5253 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of William
5354 Charles Bouline.
