| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Organized around the principles of knowledge, |

| 9 | 10 | | education, and work, KEW Learning Academy was founded in 2008 by |

| 10 | 11 | | Youletta Jayne McCullough with the goal of improving the lives of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | high-need and at-risk individuals in the Greater Houston area |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | through a variety of educational and mentoring programs; the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | nonprofit organization has partnered with a number of worthy groups |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | to develop lifelong learners and to encourage achievement in the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | areas of science, technology, engineering, agriculture, the arts, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and mathematics; in 2014, the academy launched the first |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Engineering Design Evening Camp; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Each year at the Profiles of Prominence Awards |

| 19 | 20 | | Banquet, KEW Academy highlights outstanding citizens who have |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | demonstrated excellence in their respective fields; for 2015, |

| 21 | 22 | | educators Nakia Singleton and Kristi Johnson are being honored with |

| 22 | 23 | | the Kaduceus Young Achievers Award, while Rickey Davis and Loretta |

| 23 | 24 | | Vance, both educators as well, are receiving the McPeters |

| 24 | 25 | | Ambassadors Award; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Furthermore, the academy is bestowing the |

| 26 | 27 | | Distinguished Award for Lifetime Achievement on Kathy |

| 27 | 28 | | Blueford-Daniels, Cherye Jefferson, Valantha Spivey, and Joetta |

| 28 | 29 | | Stevenson for their community service and on Myrtice Newhouse, Ida |

| 29 | 30 | | Powell, and Sharon Terry for their work in education; Tony Webber is |

| 30 | 31 | | also being recognized with the Distinguished Award for Lifetime |

| 31 | 32 | | Achievement in the business category; and |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, KEW Learning Academy is providing area residents |
