5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, William L. Jackson has been named chief of police |

6 | 7 | | for the City of Newton; and |

7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A highly skilled professional, Mr. Jackson brings |

8 | 9 | | to his new role more than two decades of experience in law |

9 | 10 | | enforcement; he is currently a detective sergeant with the Fort |

10 | 11 | | Stockton Police Department, where he has served with distinction |
---|
11 | 12 | | for the past 18 years; and |

12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson holds a Master Peace Officer license and |
---|
13 | 14 | | he is a Certified Firearms Instructor; since his graduation from |
---|
14 | 15 | | the Kilgore Police Academy in 1992, he has completed more than 50 |
---|
15 | 16 | | law enforcement training classes, including courses in management, |
---|
16 | 17 | | child abuse prevention, forensic science, gangs, and juvenile |
---|
17 | 18 | | justice; and |

18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A native of Buna, Mr. Jackson is upholding a family |

19 | 20 | | tradition in law enforcement; his father was a lawman, his brother |
---|
20 | 21 | | is a Jasper police officer, his niece is a Texas Highway Patrol |
---|
21 | 22 | | trooper, and his brother-in-law is a federal probation officer; and |

22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, William Jackson has demonstrated a strong |

23 | 24 | | commitment to excellence throughout his career, and the Newton |
---|
24 | 25 | | Police Department is sure to benefit from his dedicated leadership; |
