45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, William L. Jackson has been named chief of police
67 for the City of Newton; and
78 WHEREAS, A highly skilled professional, Mr. Jackson brings
89 to his new role more than two decades of experience in law
910 enforcement; he is currently a detective sergeant with the Fort
1011 Stockton Police Department, where he has served with distinction
1112 for the past 18 years; and
1213 WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson holds a Master Peace Officer license and
1314 he is a Certified Firearms Instructor; since his graduation from
1415 the Kilgore Police Academy in 1992, he has completed more than 50
1516 law enforcement training classes, including courses in management,
1617 child abuse prevention, forensic science, gangs, and juvenile
1718 justice; and
1819 WHEREAS, A native of Buna, Mr. Jackson is upholding a family
1920 tradition in law enforcement; his father was a lawman, his brother
2021 is a Jasper police officer, his niece is a Texas Highway Patrol
2122 trooper, and his brother-in-law is a federal probation officer; and
2223 WHEREAS, William Jackson has demonstrated a strong
2324 commitment to excellence throughout his career, and the Newton
2425 Police Department is sure to benefit from his dedicated leadership;
2526 now, therefore, be it
2627 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2728 Legislature hereby congratulate William Jackson on his appointment
2829 as chief of the Newton Police Department and extend to him sincere
2930 best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for Mr. Jackson as an expression of high regard by the
3233 Texas House of Representatives.
