| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Alexander Good-Suhm, a senior at Rapoport Academy |

| 7 | 8 | | Aerospace Scholars program at NASA during the summer of 2014; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The HAS program was established in 1999 as a |

| 9 | 10 | | partnership between the State of Texas, NASA's Johnson Space Center |

| 10 | 11 | | in Houston, and the Texas educational community to encourage |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | student interest in science, technology, engineering, and math |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | careers; and |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Good-Suhm was one of 260 high school juniors to |

| 14 | 15 | | join in the weeklong program at Johnson Space Center; participants |

| 15 | 16 | | toured the facilities, heard briefings by NASA experts, and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | presented a jointly developed proposal for a mission to Mars to a |

| 17 | 18 | | gathering of their parents, the space center's senior management, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | members of the Texas Legislature, and representatives from the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Rotary Club; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary scholar, Mr. Good-Suhm was named a |

| 21 | 22 | | Commended Student for 2015 by the National Merit Scholarship |

| 22 | 23 | | Program; he has worked as a research assistant at the Baylor |

| 23 | 24 | | Research and Innovation Collaborative, and he plans to study |

| 24 | 25 | | physics after graduating from Rapoport Academy Meyer High School; |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is moving toward the front |

| 27 | 28 | | ranks of the next generation of scientists and engineers, and he is |
