| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Oran Lopez Reed of Boy Scouts of America Troop |

| 6 | 7 | | No. 610 in Austin has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this |

| 7 | 8 | | accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |

| 9 | 10 | | honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |

| 10 | 11 | | scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |

| 11 | 12 | | criteria, Mr. Reed earned the requisite 21 merit badges, including |

| 12 | 13 | | those requiring expertise in such areas as climbing, canoeing, and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | scuba diving, and successfully completed an Eagle Scout project, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | which involved adding benches, picnic tables, and trees to Hyde |

| 15 | 16 | | Park Christian Church Community Garden; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The son of Cyrus Reed and Rosa Maria Lopez Reed, this |

| 17 | 18 | | fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability |

| 18 | 19 | | throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration |

| 19 | 20 | | of the fellow members of his troop as he worked toward the highest |

| 20 | 21 | | rank that the organization offers; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Reed has also distinguished himself outside of |

| 22 | 23 | | scouting as a student at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy magnet |

| 23 | 24 | | school and as a member of the LBJ Jaguars and East Austin Lone Stars |

| 24 | 25 | | soccer teams; after graduation, he plans to study psychology at |

| 25 | 26 | | St. Edward's University, where he has earned a Presidential |

| 26 | 27 | | Scholarship and been admitted into the Honors Program; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Reed's dedication to excellence and his |

| 28 | 29 | | perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy to |

| 29 | 30 | | stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with pride |
