H.R. No. 2778 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the death of Irving Braslau of Corpus Christi on May 2, 2015, at the age of 85; and WHEREAS, Born in Yorktown on October 1, 1929, to Morris and Annie Braslau, Irving Braslau was a lifelong Texan; he answered his nation's call to duty as a member of the United States Army as a young man, and after returning to civilian life, he married the love of his life, the former Marilyn Goodman, in 1957; the Braslaus shared nearly six decades together until her passing, and over the years, they became the parents of four children, Pamela, Robin, Blake, and Tracy, and their treasured family later grew to include two additional generations; and WHEREAS, Mr. Braslau was a successful entrepreneur who enjoyed a fulfilling career as the owner of Braslau's Furniture; in addition, his keen knowledge of the stock market allowed him to identify nearly any ticker symbol from memory and to share valuable stock tips with others; in his leisure time, he delighted in reading, watching movies, and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, and he was a longtime member of Congregation Beth Israel; and WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Irving Braslau will fondly remember him for his generosity, his warmth, and his wonderful sense of humor, and he will forever hold a treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Irving Braslau and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his children, Pamela Zane and her husband, Randall, Robin Davis and her husband, Jordan, and Blake Braslau and his wife, Monica; to his grandchildren, Andrea Zane Feinman and her husband, Blake, Stacy Zane, Todd Davis and his wife, Mali, Amy and Eric Davis, and Grant, Caroline, and Natalie Braslau; to his great-grandchildren, Zane Phillip Feinman and Max Nathan Davis; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Irving Braslau.
