H.R. No. 2786 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, F. Scott Dueser of Abilene was selected for the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame and recognized at a ceremony on April 23, 2015; and WHEREAS, Established by the Smith-Hutson Endowed Chair of Banking at Sam Houston State University, the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame honors outstanding bankers who have contributed to the industry in the Lone Star State and served their communities well; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dueser began his career in banking right out of high school when he worked as a bookkeeper for First National Bank in Breckenridge; he earned his bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from Texas Tech University in 1975, and he graduated from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in 1981; and WHEREAS, He joined First National Bank of Abilene in 1976 as a management trainee, and over the years he held a number of important management positions, including chair, president, and chief executive officer; currently, he is chair, president, and chief executive officer of First Financial Bankshares, Inc.; and WHEREAS, In addition to his professional responsibilities, this esteemed Texan has served as a leader with a number of noteworthy organizations; he was on the Texas Tech Board of Regents from 2005 to 2009 and served as chairman of the board in 2008-2009, and he was cochair of the Abilene Christian University Centennial Campaign; he was chair of the Texas Bankers Association, president of the American Institute of Banking, chair of the board of the Abilene Industrial Foundation, and chair of the board and campaign chair for the United Way of Abilene; furthermore, he has received numerous awards for his endeavors in the community, including the 2000 Volunteer Service Award from the United Way of Abilene, the 2009 Outstanding Citizen of the Year award from the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, and the 2014 Distinguished Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America; and WHEREAS, Through his hard work and a commitment to excellence, Scott Dueser has proven himself a business and civic leader of great vision and ability, and this accolade is a fitting tribute to all that he has accomplished; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate F. Scott Dueser on his selection for the 2015 Texas Bankers Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Dueser as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
