45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A group of outstanding individuals from Central
67 Texas are being recognized by Navy League Austin in 2015 with the
78 Theodore Roosevelt Navy League Youth Medal for their service in
89 Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, National Defense Corps, and
910 Young Marines units; and
1011 WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade is presented to young men
1112 and women training to enter the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast
1213 Guard, and Flag Merchant Marine who best exemplify President
1314 Theodore Roosevelt's values of energy, spirit, competition, and
1415 fair play; the award is authorized by the Navy League of the United
1516 States, a civilian organization dedicated to supporting active duty
1617 personnel and their families as well as students in youth and young
1718 adult development programs, such as the Navy Junior ROTC, the
1819 Marine Corps Junior ROTC, the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps,
1920 the Young Marines, and the National Defense Corps; and
2021 WHEREAS, The Navy Junior ROTC cadets from Central Texas
2122 receiving the Theodore Roosevelt Navy League Youth Medal in 2015
2223 are Chris Garcia of William B. Travis High School, Kadie Andrade
2324 and Hatton Ross of Fredericksburg High School, Cassandra Woliver of
2425 Georgetown High School, Eleanor Pitzer of Lehman High School,
2526 Robert Wanzer of Stony Point High School, and Samantha Knievel of
2627 Vista Ridge High School; and
2728 WHEREAS, Those members of the Marine Corps Junior ROTC who
2829 are being presented with the Theodore Roosevelt Navy League Youth
2930 Medal are Ryan Howley of Round Rock High School, Jacob J. Puente of
3031 New Braunfels High School, Austin Wright of Hendrickson High
3132 School, Brock Severson of Jack C. Hays High School, and Briana Ward
3233 of Brenham High School; and
3334 WHEREAS, The Theodore Roosevelt Navy League Youth Medal is
3435 also being conferred on Natasha Rae Stelter of Bastrop High School
3536 and Kyle Chaney of Elgin High School, both cadets with the National
3637 Defense Corps Unit, and on Jacob Yehl of Cedar Ridge High School, a
3738 member of the Young Marines; and
3839 WHEREAS, These exceptional young Texans have demonstrated
3940 great perseverance, courage, and hard work in the pursuit of their
4041 goals, and they are a source of tremendous pride for their schools
4142 and their communities; now, therefore, be it
4243 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
4344 Legislature hereby congratulate the Central Texas recipients of the
4445 Theodore Roosevelt Navy League Youth Medal and extend to them
4546 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
4647 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4748 prepared for the recipients as an expression of high regard by the
4849 Texas House of Representatives.
