45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
67 memories of longtime Buda resident Gerald L. Bollinger, who died
78 on January 1, 2015, at the age of 84; and
89 WHEREAS, Gerald Bollinger was born in Chester, Illinois, on
910 May 6, 1930, to Floyd and Marie Bollinger; answering his nation's
1011 call to duty, he served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean
1112 War, earning two Bronze Stars and other decorations; and
1213 WHEREAS, After completing his service, Mr. Bollinger was a
1314 civil servant for the federal government; he lived in Salinas,
1415 California, for 20 years until his retirement in 1986, when he moved
1516 to Buda, Texas, where he enjoyed the friendship of many before
1617 returning to Salinas in 2012; and
1718 WHEREAS, Mr. Bollinger was a volunteer with the Civil Air
1819 Patrol for more than three decades, and he rose to the rank of
1920 lieutenant colonel; he led and took part in many search and rescue
2021 missions, and he was responsible for finding nine individuals and
2122 saving the lives of five; and
2223 WHEREAS, Gerald Bollinger lived a rich and purposeful life,
2324 and he leaves behind a record of patriotism and service to others
2425 that will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him; now,
2526 therefore, be it
2627 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2728 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gerald L. Bollinger
2829 and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
2930 life partner, Donna E. Jaranilla; to his daughters, June
3031 M. Stanfield and Joyce L. Ponton; to his son, Jay P. Bollinger; to
3132 his brothers, Lyle Bollinger and Jean Bollinger; to his nine
3233 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four nephews, and two
3334 nieces; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
3435 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3536 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3637 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gerald
3738 L. Bollinger.
