5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |

6 | 7 | | memories of longtime Buda resident Gerald L. Bollinger, who died |

7 | 8 | | on January 1, 2015, at the age of 84; and |
---|
8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Bollinger was born in Chester, Illinois, on |
---|
9 | 10 | | May 6, 1930, to Floyd and Marie Bollinger; answering his nation's |
---|
10 | 11 | | call to duty, he served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean |
---|
11 | 12 | | War, earning two Bronze Stars and other decorations; and |
---|
12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, After completing his service, Mr. Bollinger was a |
---|
13 | 14 | | civil servant for the federal government; he lived in Salinas, |
---|
14 | 15 | | California, for 20 years until his retirement in 1986, when he moved |
---|
15 | 16 | | to Buda, Texas, where he enjoyed the friendship of many before |
---|
16 | 17 | | returning to Salinas in 2012; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bollinger was a volunteer with the Civil Air |
---|
18 | 19 | | Patrol for more than three decades, and he rose to the rank of |
---|
19 | 20 | | lieutenant colonel; he led and took part in many search and rescue |
---|
20 | 21 | | missions, and he was responsible for finding nine individuals and |
---|
21 | 22 | | saving the lives of five; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Bollinger lived a rich and purposeful life, |
---|
23 | 24 | | and he leaves behind a record of patriotism and service to others |
---|
24 | 25 | | that will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him; now, |
---|
25 | 26 | | therefore, be it |

26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gerald L. Bollinger |
---|
28 | 29 | | and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
---|
29 | 30 | | life partner, Donna E. Jaranilla; to his daughters, June |

30 | 31 | | M. Stanfield and Joyce L. Ponton; to his son, Jay P. Bollinger; to |

31 | 32 | | his brothers, Lyle Bollinger and Jean Bollinger; to his nine |

32 | 33 | | grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four nephews, and two |
