H.R. No. 2828
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Canton High School boys' golf team completed a
notable season with its appearance in the University
Interscholastic League state tournament on April 27 and 28, 2015;
and
WHEREAS, Ably guided by their coach, Paige Peace James, the
Canton players honed their skills throughout the year, putting in
countless hours of practice and showing an unwavering commitment to
excellence; the team captured first place at the District 14-4A
tournament and took third place at the regional event to become the
first Canton boys' golf team to advance to state in more than three
decades; and
WHEREAS, Matched up against other top 4A squads at the state
meet at Onion Creek Golf Club in Austin, the Canton Eagles finished
12th overall, with impressive scores posted by each team member,
including Ryan Huddle, Patrick Malouf, Logan Willeford, Will
Huddle, and A. J. Callaway; and
WHEREAS, Through their talent and determination, the members
of the Eagles golf team have proudly represented Canton High
School, and the dedication the students have demonstrated is sure
to serve them well in the years ahead; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Canton High School boys' golf
team on qualifying for the 2015 UIL state tournament and extend to
the players sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
