| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |

| 10 | 11 | | Scholars program was established to reward local students who have |

| 11 | 12 | | demonstrated excellence in such areas as academics, athletics, |

| 12 | 13 | | leadership, and community service; since its inception in 1988, |

| 13 | 14 | | some 480 young men and women have been selected for this prestigious |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | honor, with the winners each receiving a stipend to assist with |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | college expenses; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Thomas ranks fifth out of her senior class of |

| 17 | 18 | | 246 at Tuloso-Midway High School, with a grade point average of |

| 18 | 19 | | 103.13; a talented writer, she also performs with the theater arts |

| 19 | 20 | | program and competes on the mock trial and KEDT-TV Challenge teams |

| 20 | 21 | | at Tuloso-Midway; after graduation, she plans on attending Baylor |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals |
