45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Kelsey Osburn has been named a 2014 Corpus Christi
67 Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished Scholar in
78 recognition of her achievements in the Science category; and
89 WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished
910 Scholars program was established to reward local students who have
1011 demonstrated excellence in such areas as academics, athletics,
1112 leadership, and community service; since its inception in 1988,
1213 some 480 young men and women have been selected for this prestigious
1314 honor, with the winners each receiving a stipend to assist with
1415 college expenses; and
1516 WHEREAS, The daughter of Ronny and Novia Osburn, Ms. Osburn
1617 is a senior at Tuloso-Midway High School, where she maintains a
1718 104.17 grade point average and ranks fourth in her class of 246
1819 students; she is also a member of the school's Junior Engineering
1920 Technical Society team; after graduation, she plans to attend
2021 Trinity University and study pharmacology; and
2122 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals
2223 with tremendous dedication, and she may take great pride in all that
2324 she has accomplished as she looks ahead to a future bright with
2425 promise; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby congratulate Kelsey Osburn on her selection as a
2728 2014 Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished
2829 Scholar and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
2930 success; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for Ms. Osburn as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3233 House of Representatives.
