| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |

| 9 | 10 | | Scholars program was established to reward local students who have |

| 10 | 11 | | demonstrated excellence in such areas as academics, athletics, |

| 11 | 12 | | leadership, and community service; since its inception in 1988, |

| 12 | 13 | | some 480 young men and women have been selected for this prestigious |

| 13 | 14 | | honor, with the winners each receiving a stipend to assist with |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | college expenses; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Sunil and Sangeeta Gupta, Ms. Gupta |

| 16 | 17 | | maintains a grade point average of 4.5 at King High School and is |

| 17 | 18 | | ranked second in her senior class of more than 500 students; she has |

| 18 | 19 | | also distinguished herself as a participant in the Academic |

| 19 | 20 | | Decathlon, the founder of the King High School Book Club, and a |

| 20 | 21 | | chemistry tutor; after graduation, she plans to attend the |

| 21 | 22 | | University of Pennsylvania and major in business and computer |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals |
